How to calculate a weighted grade
Each category (exams, homework, labs…) is worth a set slice of your grade. Your overall grade is the weighted average: multiply your score in each category by its weight, add them up, and divide by the total weight.
Example
= (85×40 + 95×30 + 90×30) ÷ 100 = 89.5% overall.
Frequently asked questions
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
Still works — it divides by whatever total you entered, so the weighted average is always correct. It also shows your total so you can catch a missing category.
Can it read my grades from Canvas?
Yes — that's what Sequoia does, for every course at once, and it ranks what to study first.
